You should do a web search on carpal tunnel syndrome, CTS, repetitive
strain injuries, or RSI, there's a lot of information around. In a
nutshell, if you type or do other repetitive motions a lot with your
wrists in a bad position, your tendons can become irritated and swollen.
When this happens, they start to pinch the nerves and blood vessels in
your wrist, which causes a lot of pain. Always try to keep your wrists
straight when typing, and if you feel pain or tingling in your hands,
wrists or arms, it might be wise to ask a doctor about it.
