This is a physical ailment that anyone who uses a computer a lot whould
watch out for. Your "carpal tunnels" are the sheaths in your wrist
though which the tendons that move your hand and fingers slide back and
forth. Frequently repeated movements (mousing, typing, etc.) can cause
these sheaths to get swollen and irritated, which makes it more
difficult for the tendons to slide in them, which makes them even more
irritated, etc.. Your wrists will feel very sore if this happens.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is what happens to people who, over time, have
this occur too often - their carpal tunnels reach a point where even
just a few minutes of typing or mousing becomes very painful. It was
first noticed among people who spend the majority of their day doing
prolonged rapid typing (data entry clerks, secretaries doing a lot of
wordprocessing, etc.). Once you've developed it, there's not much you
can do to fix it except stop doing entirely whatever it weas that caused
it (i.e., using a computer).

If you do a lot of typng/mousing, pay attention to your wrists - make
sure you have good wrist support, stop every now and then to give your
wrists a rest, flex your hands around (limbering up exercises), etc.
Most importantly, if your wrists start aching, take a break
immeadiately, and do something else for a while, otherwise you might
find yourself unable to use a computer at all.
