um, well the way i see it, the only option left is lowering your screen
resolution. Here's what i have going, and altho it does take a little time
to get use to, once you start using it you'll never go back. 

I actually have my screen resolution at a nice 800x600, but my desktop is a
nice virtual 1600x1200 thanks to my video card. This gives me exactly 4x
the amount of room to work in and its freaking great. i've never had a
problem with moving faces/edges (altho verticies can sometimes be a
problem) and the dots are a nice usable size.

and i guess is all else fails you can always get a magnifying glass :).
