It can take anywhere from an hour (some map around 500 brushes) to a week (some
kind of humongous open space with lots of complex grid bar things all over the
place), and also depending the speed of your machine. I haven't actually made a
full map yet (duck as the comments come my way, as I've been into map-making for
Quake since August 1996 :)   ), but my estimate is about 12 hours for a
medium-sized map on a fast Pentium with 32 megs RAM.
