In reference to lightning in quake im personaly made then lost into the
oblivion of things i stuff into my never ending directory structure a
more level editor friendly lighting similar to the one used in e1m7 that 
flashes when triggered and takes off x amount of damage and works by
putting a "lighting_end" & a "lightning_start"  entities and giving them
a targetname of a trigger_once/trigger_multiple...if i ever find this
again ill whip up an entity set for it and post it somewhere for your
lightning pleasure.
