first of all quake2 bsp is a newer version.  just like quake and hexen2 
bsp are different versions.  also quake2 stores textures in a different 
file.  as to entities and things i dont know.  there are new features 
that can be stored in the actual bsp rather than in the dlls that are 
different than quake bsp.  another thing is the way they are made may be 
different.  quake2 may not use maps.  it may use something else.  i 
doubt it but its possible.
