this is true 99% of the time

but in super-heavy multiplayer action i have seen d2_3dfx version hit 6-7fps on a very rare occasion while 320x200 software render never goes under 15 or so

however 99% of the time 3dfx version is at 50-120fps but 320x200 is usually at 25-65fps

this is on a ppro-200 with 6meg canopus 3dfx
