How do you get WinQuake to recognize MOUSE3 as an independent control?

Under Windows 95, I have the middle mouse button set as "double-click."
This carries over into WinQuake. I can bind MOUSE3, and the console
recognizes it as bound, but pressing it just double-clicks MOUSE1. It's
handy under Win95, but it's an awful waste of a button in Quake.

Any insight?
