Q1 QBSP WARNING: CutNodePortals_r:new portal was clipped away

Anyone out there have even an uneducated guess as to what this means?
What is a portal? Why would it be a problem if a portal was not clipped
on all sides?

Why does all of the map compile in parts and yet I put them together and

keep getting this warning - after which QBSP will not write the .prt
file!

All there limits? Is there better documentation of Q1 QBSP errors than
http://www.planetquake.com/quakelab/bsp.htm ???
