Many thanks for your comments, they have been very helpful. Unfortunately I
haven't resolved the issue yet. Remarkably, using WC and trying to isolate the
problem by compiling the map in parts (quite simple with WC) only led to further
frustrations. For beginners, I tried compiling it in halves only to discover
that both halves compiled without errors, leaving me with no clue whatsoever as
to where the problem might be. Then, imagine a map with parts A, B, and C, A & B
compile without errors, B & C compile without errors, the same goes for A & C,
and yet A & B & C gives the warning. I can only conclude the problem lies
somewhere in the spacial relationships between these areas, which doesn't seem
out of the ordinary.

I'm curious about something -- does your map have a dish shaped floor or similar
round concave object in it somewhere?
