Hello:

I want to create a multiplayer Quake conversion or find one that
already exists that allows every player, regardless of weapon type to
have the equal ability to "kill" or stop another player with one shot.
I think that if all players could get someone with one shot than it
would be more enjoyable for those people who don't have a rocket
launcher or some high powered weapon, especially when one or two players
seems to "hog" the nastier weapons due to superior firepower and maybe
having more experience. I think that this would make all players be
equally careful when searching for the opponents, knowing that ONLY ONE
shotgun blast would do you in. Of course the explosive weapons would
still have advantages over the nail and buckshot ones, like a blast
radius that reduces the need for accuracy in aiming.

I haven't used or seen Quake-C yet, so I'm not sure what the best way
to do this would be. I was thinking that one way to do this would be to
set all the ammo damage values equal (is this possible?) and to great
enough value to kill someone with 100% health. I think I have seen this
done with the sniper rifle in CTF Team Fortress conversions. Another
way may be to set all players initial HEALTH values to the that of the
shotgun's damage value (or maybe the axe's damage value???), though this
would make the player drown or succumb to toxic slime very quickly,
unless or course the damage due to these environmental hazards were set
to significantly low values.....

Can you give me any advice?? Thanks.
