Kingpin: Life of Crime native Linux package — licensing
=======================================================

This package holds work from four sources with different owners and different
terms. Nothing in it grants you rights to Xatrix's or Interplay's work: the
author has no authority to grant them and does not claim to. Sections 3 and 4
are the only licence grants, and each covers only the part it names.

You need your own copy of Kingpin: Life of Crime. The installer reads the game's
data, maps, models and sounds from that copy; none of them are in this package.

1. The 1999 engine, renderer and icon — Xatrix Entertainment / Interplay
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Copyright (c) 1999 Xatrix Entertainment, Inc. and Interplay Productions.
All rights reserved.

payload/kingpin.x86 and payload/ref_glx.so are unmodified copies of kingpin and
ref_glx.so from the official 1999 Linux release,
kingpin-1.20_glibc-i386-linux2.0.tar.gz. patches/kp-patch.py patches them on
your machine at install time.

payload/kingpin.png is the game's own icon, converted to a 32x32 PNG.

2. The game library — the Kingpin SDK
-------------------------------------

Copyright (c) 1999 Xatrix Entertainment, Inc. and Interplay Productions.
All rights reserved.

payload/gamei386.so is built from the Kingpin: Life of Crime game-source SDK,
released by Xatrix in September 1999, with the fixes made in the kp-mod project.
Its source, and a full account of the SDK's terms, is there:

    https://github.com/molycode/kp-mod (see its LICENSE)

The SDK includes Quake II game code, Copyright (C) 1997-2001 Id Software, Inc.,
which reached this library through the SDK. No permission to redistribute a
library built from the SDK has ever been given in writing, and none is claimed
here.

The library also contains the NavLib reconstruction, under section 3.

3. NavLib reconstruction — MIT
------------------------------

payload/gamei386.so has compiled into it a clean reconstruction of the SDK's
binary-only NavLib. Upstream: https://github.com/drFredz/Kingpin_NavLib

4. Everything else — MIT
------------------------

This section covers the author's own work: everything here that sections 1 to 3
do not name, including the installer, the launchers, the compatibility shim
(payload/kp_compat.so), the patcher and the tools.
