Hypov8 is currently updating the old
Killerz mod.
Killerz is a mod made in the early days of Kingpin by the
Atrophy Mod Team.
It a simple enough mod, the game starts like normal death match. Everyone races to be the first to reach a set number of frags (2 - 5 set by server option). The first player to reach the required number of frags becomes the Killer.
The killer regains full health and gets full armour.
He also has a ooloured glow (another server option and can be red, yellow, blue, pink, aqua)
All the other players (now called Mobsters) have to gang up on the Killer and take him down.
During the Killer phase all the Mobsters can only kill the Killer and have a white glow around their weapons to distinguish them from the Killer.
Once he is killed the DM round restarts and the race is on to become the next Killer.
There are server options that can be set to determine how many frags the Killer gets for fragging a Mobster, for suiciding and how many frags a Mobster gets for fragging the Killer.
The Killer shows up as red in the scoreboard, there are regular screen messages displaying who the current Killer is and, during the Killer phase the Killer sees 'Killer' on the lower right of his HUD and the Mobsters see 'Mobster'. Once the Killer is killed the Killer and Mobster displays disappear from the HUD indicating the DM round has restarted.
Hypov8 has added Monkey Mod 2.0 support, fixed any bugs in the mod and added a few features to make the mod more playable.
Hopefully the revised mod will be ready for testing soon.

Fredz has created hires versions of all the standard skins for the thug, runt and bitch models (and also the dog, rat and shrimp!).
Every texture is upscaled with 4x. Until maximum 1028 pixels.
All the textures were done with Topaz Gigapixel AI v5.4.

Recently when playing on the Luschen Botmatch server I saw I map I don't think I had seen before. The map is called
Central Hotel (hotel.bsp) and was made by
WhoopAss back in December of 2001.
Central Hotel is a smallish death match map set in and around a hotel. There is only one of each weapon but nearly every room has one, plus ammo etc.

If you want to check out the map join the Luschen Botmatch server, open the console (tilde key) and type - changemap hotel.
Monkey Harris has released a new test version of his MH Kingpin patch.
This new version adds support for hi-res images of any type.
Here's a patch update for you lot to try. It should add support for hi-res images of any type (not only map textures) under a "hires" folder, eg.
you may have:
"main/hires/textures",
"main/hires/env",
"main/hires/models",
"main/hires/players",
"main/hires/pics".
As the hi-res files don't replace the originals, it's possible to switch them on/off, which can be done with a new "
r_hires" cvar (enter "
vid_restart" to apply changes).
Hopefully someone can create some nice hi-res images to make use of this.
Here's another patch update to add support for PNG images in the "hires" folder (it'll look for TGA first and then PNG), as well as fixing the path search order so that mod-specific customisations still have priority. It also re-enables the "gl_maxtexsize" cvar for setting the image size limit (larger will be downsampled), with a default value of 4096 (not that I think it'd be a good idea to make them that big!).

Dagon is currently creating new Hires textures for Kingpin. These will be all the standard Kingpin textures and the final product will probably be in png format. These new textures will reside in a new folder in main called hires (Kingpin/main/hires).
Dagon is very experienced at creating upscaled textures. There are still some challenges, but work is progressing well.
Monkey Harris is in the process of updating his Monkey Harris Kingpin patch to support the new high resolution textures.
