New Death Match Map Street DM
Mr.Goodfinger and I have collaborated on a new death match map called Street DM.
Street DM is a medium sized death match map where the setting is an urban street and also inside some of the buildings.
It uses all custom textures so looks quite unique in Kingpin. It has 14 player spawns and ample weapons and items.
It utilises some parts of maps from Mr.Goodfingers upcoming single player mission Street Revenge and also some new areas.
It has had two beta versions which were tested over the last two weeks and now the final version is released :)
You can grab Street DM from here.
Q & Q With Rafael Paiz 2019
We are still awaiting responses to the questiosn from the community that were sent to Ryan Feltrin but Method sent some of the general questions to three of the other Kingpin developers too. So far Rafael Paiz has responded with his answers.
You cn check out the Q & A with Rafael here.
Thursday Game Of GunRace & Crash Mods
The Thursday Game this week will be an hour or so of the GunRace mod and the rest of the night will be the Crash Mod.
Server Details:-
IP : 37.247.117.19:31515
Time : 22.00 (10.00pm) UK time/5.00pm EST time
------------------------------------------------------------------
Why you should come and play in the weekly games:-
Kingpin is a classic old game.
It's fun to play.
The community is friendly and helpful.
Most of the mods that are played are either new or have been updated in the last year or so.
Most of the maps that are played are either new or from the last two or three years.
Some of the classic old maps are still played also.
Two Old Developer Interviews Added
While we wait for the Kingpin developers to respond to questions that the community recently submitted Fredz has uploaded two older interviews.
One is with Dan Koppel (Technical Lead and Senior Level Design) which seems to be from 1999 and the other one is with Rafael Paiz (Lead Programmer) and looks to be from the early 2000's. Both interveiws were conducted by Method.
I like this part from Rafael's interview:-
Q: Did you enjoy working on Kingpin:Life of Crime?
A: Working at Xatrix was the best time I ever had making games, there was just a special kind of magic while I was there. The entire team was very dedicated and we were able to create several great games.
You can read the interviews here:-
Who Was Voiced By Cypress Hill In Kingpin?
Occasionally someone asks which voices members of Cypres Hill did in Kingpin.
Fredz just showed me part of an old interview and it says that Cypress Hill did the voices of bartender, Momo and Jesus.
Bagman Q3 Style Bagman Map
Another map Jogger sent me, that we didn't have, is the final version of Bagman Q3 Style (team_kdarena.bsp) by Knockdown.
This is his take on the popular Q3CTF1 map. The only difference I can see from the beta2 version is that it appears to be a bit lighter which is a good thing :)
You can download Bagman Q3 Style (team_kdarena.bsp) from here.
Website is Back
After solving allot of anoying bugs, it's mostly finaly back.
Sorry for some comments of the last days are missing. But for the rest almost everythings should be back.
There maybe also still a few other bugs, I stil need to fix.
But i also learned a few things from it, like:
- Make a proper backup when the host is planning todo a upgrade.
- Don't allow anymore more post or editing on the day where the server gets a upgrade.
(Probably holds in that the website is a day down.) - Don't try to fix the website myself. Becouse host supports keep saying the website is online, really? Even when it says the database is broken.
(That holds in if the website is down, i can not post it on this website but will be posted on facebook or discord, for futher notice.)
