Cleo AKA {GA}Cleopatra has sent me a bunch of old Kingpin demos. Some are clan matches and some are just people playing, and testing out, some custom maps.
The ones I uploaded today are the demos of custom maps from back in 2002. These ones include people playing in these maps and also some of Cleo just checking them out. If you don't know many of the custom maps from back then this is a good way to check them out. There are also a couple of KPDM5 demos thrown in there as well.
You can download the map demos from here.
Just extract/unzip these files to your Kingpin folder. The zip is setup so that they will extract to kingpin/main/demos.
To watch them you bring down the console and type:
map xxxxxxxx.dm2
for example
map 4room_sof.dm2
If the console doesn't retract just press space and esc and you should be ok.
You need the actual map being played to watch the demos. Most of the demos use the relevant map name, so I suggest trying to load the demo and if it says you don't have the map then you can download the relevant map from here.
Now that Cleo has sent in these demos I'm tasking here with trying to locate some of these nice people in the demos and get them playing Kingpin again :D

We host two custom pistol skins here at Kingpin Info and I have now updated the zipfiles and placed them into pak files. I have named the pak files pak2.
The two custom skins are the Castor Troy gold skin and the Nickel Silver skin. Both skins were made by Überdroog.
You can download the pistol skins from here.
Nickel Silver skin
Castor Troy gold skin
The zip files are set up so you only have to extract the pak2 file to your Kingpin directory. This will place the pak2 file in your kingpin/main folder.
If you already have a pak2 file in your main folder then extract the new pak2 to a temporary folder somewhere and rename it to another number such as pak3, pak4 etc which you don't already have. Then copy it to your kingpin/main folder.
Just a reminder that Kingpin is on Twitter. The Kingpin hashtag is #kingpinlifeofcrime
So if your a Twitter user you can help spread the word about Kingpin, new map releases, Kingpin Info and the weekly games etc :)
The latest tweet there from yesterday is by a guy thinking about making a map for Kingpin so a few tweets in support of that might help ;)
Check it out at the Twitter website here.
It's now one year since Fredz opened the doors here at Kingpin Info. The first news post was made on 1st Feb. 2016.
It's been a busy year since we opened here. Lots of new maps, lots of news posts, some mods updated and lots of games on the Kingpin servers.
Hopefully things will continue to go well during 2017.
Btw we hsot a map pack of all the maps released durign 2016 here.
Jonez has quickly followed up his Team Barns beta2 map with another Bagman map called Team Bloody Tracks.
This is a smallish Bagman map set in a trainyard. The map is small, full of concrete and brick, and will be frantic BM action.
Railroad tracks dissect the map in the centre where the money drop is. There are a few ways to get between the team's bases and there are plaenty of weapon and item caches.
I'm sure this one will be added to all the Bagman servers :)
You can download Team Bloody Tracks from here.
Just extract/unzip the files to your Kingpin folder.

Some screens from the game:-
Monkey Harris has released a new version of the Monkey Mod. The latest version is v2.0.
There are many changes and improvements which can be viewed here.
One of the major improvements is the inclusion of antilag system which is a big help to high pingers. I also like that Monkey Mod can now display what country players connect from.
MH suggests using the MoneyMod server files in conjunction with the new KPDED2 file.
Make sure to read the mmod.txt file for instructions and changes.
There are both Windows and Linux versions.
MMV2.0 Windows
MMV2.0 Linux
Just extract/unzip the files to your Kingpin folder.
Monkey Harris has released a new KPDED2 file. This basically allows you to run dedicated public servers. In your server shortcut you just replace the kingpin.exe with the kpded2.exe.
KPDED2 fixes a number of bugs and security holes and also adds many new improvements.
The zipfile contains a very comprehensive readme which you will need to read and absorb all the information.
The readme does include some suggested Quick Start settings and most of the new default settings are fine so you wont need to change/add too many commands.
The main changes for me are:-
The allow_download_paks command means that clients are now able to download the client files for mods such as CTF and Power2 directly from the server. This is because these mods have their client files in PAK1 files.
You will also need the addcvarcheck command which adds a simple check for a client cvar. Checked when a client connects and when the 'checkcvars' command is used.
So if you run a CTF server you would need to add the line:-
addcvarcheck ctfver !* STUFF exec ctf.cfg
The allow_download_pics command allows the client to download levelshot pics directly from the server.
These commands are set to 1 by default so shouldn't need to be changed.
The set clientdir main command is for when running a mod that doesn't require any special client files (eg. PAKs), clients should be told to use their 'main' directory to avoid duplicate files in multiple directories.
Any changes you make need to be added to the relevant server.cfg file.
There are many other changes and improvements so make sure you read the readme :)
There are versions for both Windows and Linux:-
KPDED2 Windows
KPDED2 Linux
Just extract/unzip the file into your Kingpin folder.
Roarkes has set up a new Kingpin tutorials site. There isn't too much there yet but go check it out and be sure to bookmark the site.
